3 tests 3 different opinions.

CT Scan showed cysts that could be hemmoragic. US showed no normal ovarian tissue. Gynecologist guessed dermoid cyst. MRI with and without contrast thinks fibrous or other low grade neoplastic etiology.
This is a joke right?
Gun  wants to take both ovaries.
I  said I  will call you.

I am not going to do anything.
Can you tell I don't trust the medical establishment?

Good for you for pushing back on removal of your ovaries!! I wish I had fled my long-time (previously respected) gyn's office when he used ovarian cancer scare tactics and rushed me into surgery. I regret it every single day and hope to save many other women from these incredibly destructive surgeries (hysterectomy and oophorectomy) that are rarely necessary. The medical literature has shown over and over again that removal of any part of our "reproductive" system (even one ovary) causes harm yet ~90% of these surgeries are still unnecessary.  Of course, I'm now a skeptic on all things medical with gynecology at the top of the list.

Of course, neoplasm and tumor are scary words to many but they can be benign or malignant.

How big is the cyst? Sounds like the cyst is encapsulating the ovary hence why there's no visible ovarian tissue (not all that surprising since the ovary is the size of a walnut). But a surgeon with good cystectomy skills could probably save the ovary or most of it (if they side on patient's health versus $$$).

OLD BEFORE......Thanks for ALL you contribute To this forum. I read some of your posts before I fired my gynecologist.
The mass is about 3 cm., no symptoms, everýthing else is healthy. I am not scared. I  know the risks. I  just choose a path of doing nothing but monitoring it.
I appreciate your support and knowledge.
Oh, BTW, I am 60 and went through the change at 45. My dad had lung cancer (smoked) and died. Mother died with COPD (smoked) and had a stroke. I think their diseases were brought on by their lifestyle choices not DNA.
It's  strange that the GYN didn't give me the CA125 blood test but was willing to remove my perfectly healthy ovary. I am disappointed in this female GYN.
I'm glad my posts were helpful and you fired your gyn. It's ludicrous to recommend surgery much less castration for a 3cm cyst that will likely resolve on its own! Sounds like a good reason for a rating / review on some of the doctor rating websites! As Dr. William Parker says on ovaryresearch.com benign ovarian cysts are also fairly common in post-meno women and typically also resolve on their own.
Do Dermoid cysts ever resolve? I have to wonder since I am told they are made up of any type of cells i.e. teeth, hair, eye, etc.
I just read Dr. Parker on the CA125 Issue. There sure is a lot of misinformation out on the net.
Dermoid cysts don't resolve. But imaging isn't exact so what may appear to be one type of cyst may be a different type.
I went for a second opinion yesterday. The gun said I can keep both ovaries. I  will monitor the cyst every 6 mo the. Thanks again.
