Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm so glad you had so many wonderful people around you to help and care for you. It does feel great,... like when I had my eye surgery.
Actually, yes, it was a great hospital stay in retrospect. After years of me being the one taking care of someone other than myself, it was a novelty to have others making a fuss over me and taking care of me. Not that I would want to go through it again, but I really am impressed with the care and attention I received.
Oh ok. Probably chances are I'll be asleep still. Or half alseep from all the meds and won't even know or care. All I'll care about is sleeping. LOL I hope you had a good hospital stay... well as good as can be from recovering from surgery. You know what I mean. :) Thanks.
Mine was in place overnight and they removed it sometime the next morning (I had a 4 day hospital stay). For those getting an outpatient laproscopic procedure, it is removed either before you waike up or shortly thereafter.
Hi.
Thanks. I'm the same. I hate needles too. I look away every time I need blood work. I'm glad to know the catheter is no big deal, better than a needle and it is going to help. Do they leave it there long? I googled it. I'm the same, I find the more info I know, the better I feel... depending on what it is. LOL I googled cysts as soon as I found out I have one. It helped me.
Hi.
Thanks. I'm glad to know I'll be on meds, and I like the idea of me being asleep when they do it. I'm glad I'll be fine. I'm glad it went well for you and you don't remember anything. Sorry to hear you felt sick after though. I hope you're recovering well. I'm also glad the operating bed is comfy and warm.
By the way, it is called a Foley Catheter. If you Google it, you will find plenty of sites that explain it further. Not sure if that will make you feel better or worse about it, but I usually feel better the more I know about things.
I'm a person that hates needles and a catheter is a piece of cake compared to getting shots. Actually an IV port in the back of the hand is the worst part of surgery (for me).
I think the catheter is required to prevent you from having a urine accident, and I guess that means during surgery as well. They work very close to the urinary tract and need something to control body functions. It's not a big deal. Take it from the biggest wimp I know (me). It's better than a bedpan!
I think you will be fine with the cathether.. cause they are smart... first they drug you and then they put the cathether in... and sometimes by the time they remove you wont even be awake...yeah when i had my surgery few days ago the bed in the operating room is so nice and warm and all i remember is them strapping with somethings to monitor to ur BP and all that stuff and then i saw the anestalogist and after that i dont remember anything other than getting up and wanting to puke...
P.S.
I'm more nervous about the catheter than the surgery... how does that make sense?! LOL Probably because I'm covered during surgery.... and asleep. LOL
