ORS is a very real condition. I have been living with it for about 5 years now. In July of 08, I had a 4.7CM cyst and remnant removed. ORS develops when your ovary is adheared to other organs and when it is "peeled" off, small cells are left behind. Even the smallest cell can develop into ovarian function. My GYN told me that the smallest amount of Ovarian tissue can have cysts develop on them. I would recommend that you have your doctor do an FSH (hormone level) blood test. This will tell your doctor if you still have a functioning ovary or remnant. Are you on a hormone patch or anything? If you are on hormones, you will need to go off of them for about 2 weeks before they will be able to do the FSH test. Don't be surprised if a TVUS does not show your cyst. Since your ovary was attached to other organs, the ovary remnant and cyst can develop anywhere the cells are. Sometimes a CT scan may be needed to see the cyst. In my case, I have such dense adhesions and so many staples (I had to have my ureter tube replaced in my bladder from a previous surgery) that sometimes they can't see the cyst, but they can feel them. You know your body better than anyone else, if you think something isn't right, then please find a doctor who will listen to what you are saying. It could be as Marie said just your body healing. There are some doctors who do not acknowledge that ORS is a real condition. Many of us have been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, when in fact it is ORS. If at all possible, find a gyn/onc to help you out here. They have lots of experience with ORS. Having ORS can be a very lonely condition because as Marie said, it is rare for women to be diagnosed with this. Thank goodness I have a fantastic PCP who listens to me and will order FSH tests, CT scans or whatever I request when I think I have another cyst. Keep in mind that the squeaky wheel gets answers. WHEN IN DOUBT, CHECK IT OUT!!
PS, I hope all of this makes sense, I had to take a pain pill earlier and kinda feel out of it.
It seems to me that Ors is not as rare as the doctors make it out to be Proof is in the post. I think it's ******** to,rather than inform us, it makes you think your some kind of hypochondriac. It hurts, It's real, and it *****.Had ultrasound last week and guess what? 5cm cyst attached to my colon. Had 8cm cyst ovary and tube removed Feb 12th thought it was taken care of and I would be fine.Not.They forgot to mention I'm sure on purpose they might not get it all and you may get another cyst. I know it's not their fault but they do know better than to say you will be fine, when they know there is a good chance you won't.
Have you done anything strenuous lately? I doubt it is anything other than healing pains, possibly aggravated by "overdoing it". Remnant syndrome is rare and would probably need more time to develop.
