I was diagnosed w/ a 6x6x3 left ovarian cyst a month ago. The cyst first appeared after a first trimester miscarriage I had back in October 2009 and seems to have slowly grown since. I'm due for a second abdominal/transvaginal ultrasound next week to monitor its growth. I'm asymptomatic for the most part although i feel "heaviness" in my left leg. To date, my menstural cycles have remained normal and painless. My doctor explained that it was simple but did contain some solid components although didn't explain exactly what. Then she immediately suggested laprascopic surgery. I will not have a chance to speak with her face to face until May 24th. In the meantime, I wonder why a doc would opt for surgery without having exhausted other options. Having done some research, I understand that an ultrasound guided cyst aspiration is less invavsive alternative. Does anyone have any thoughts or input? What are the chances of this thing coming back? I'm concerned.
