I have a fybroid that measures 8.5cm but the doctor does not want to remove it cause of my weight. I am over weight. My husband and I have two great girls and do not want to have anymore. It gives me pain in my legs and the lower abdomen to the point that all I want to do is cry it hurts some of the time. What should I do? PLEASE

Kajal,
Im sure you are having heaviness in your body and your uterus is enlarged most likely from the fibroids. I too have a large fibroid and a couple smaller ones. They cause pain in my back and top of my right thigh frequently. Like I said above, depending on where you are in your childbearing years, will determine what treatment you have done. Fibroids are very common in women of childbearing age and won't usually shrink or go away without intervention until you go through menopause. So if you are done having children, then maybe the best thing would be having a partial hysterectomy. If you are not done having children, then you need to take another route. What has your doc suggested?

There are different types of surgery you can have for the treatment of fibroids. Alot depends on what type they are versus how big and how many. If you are finished having children, you could have a partial hysterectomy, that would remove your uterus, there is also a myomectomy which would remove only the fibroids and there are other treatments that are non-surgical. Some are hormonal meds, there is also a uterine artery ablation. Are the fibroids causing symptoms of pain, heavy/irregular periods?
