My thoughts often Jump. Is this from PTSD

Hi there, at my job, my boss would say to me, that I went from A to Z without filling in the middle for people. I then had a job interview recently, and the guy pointed out that I had "jumped." Then today, I was writing very quickly in my journal, and was alarmed at the "jumps" in thought. I knew at the time I was just trying to capture all my thoughts, but I don't know why I have this issue or how to resolve it as it affects me professionally, and after reading the journal entry, I am scared I have a serious condition. I should say, that when speaking with friends I don't have this issue, but sometimes I will go off on tangents a bit. It usually occurs when I feel insecure about what I'm saying. Any help? Diagnoses?

PTSD is classified as a type of anxiety. Anxiety can lead to nervousness and nervousness can lead to stuttering/impaired speech. Also, PTSD can hurt your confindence and that is why you may feel like what you're saying is wrong.

From personal experience, I used to talk a lot to try to control the conversation so that people couldn't ask me about myself.

Just chill and don't label yourself as someone who "jumps around a lot." Even by selecting the screenname "jumpthought" you may be setting yourself up to unintentionally fulfill the notion.

Take a few minutes to relax and think before you talk. You're the only one who can organize what you say. You're not alone. A bunch of us have PTSD, ADD, GAD, CD and all the other D's.

Plus, public speaking is human's greatest fear. Not sure why it's only prevalent in humans though...

No diagnosis, I think it is a trait, does anyone else in the Family do the same thing, all that is happening is you are not concentrating, it sounds as if is mostly in your writing, if you think it may be a memory problem you could get it checked out, I have found a few times when I have had some short term memory loss it has been when I was taking some meds, even anti histimines can do it, so check out what you take.Going off at Tangents can happen a lot I think a lot of folks do it, then go back againto their original thought. There is a website called...lumnosity google it there a a few mind and memory games there its fun but it also gives you an idea if you are forgetful and attention span.  Good Luck
