I have been diagnosed with this illness. I recently retired because of this illness and other serious mental disorders. My anxiety is through the roof, followed by sleep apnea and losing time. I am on medication, but again suffer from obesity.
We can go to the moon, but eradicating some of these put upon emotional illnesses is far from solvable. I hope we can get help. It's difficult to read a book or walk around and even talk to others when you suddenly flash back to the awful abuse you suffered. It literally knocks me off my day to day existence. It is so difficult.
i feel the same way ! to functon in society outside a hospital is very difficult, i keep telling my doctors this-drifter0213
It is unthinkable that you all would not get very special help. I am so sorry that you do not. Is any government agency trying to help? any proposed legislation?
i'm also a veteran...12 years USAF and have severe PTSD. i go to the VA regularly for therapy; but they are really clueless as to how to help women vets who are victims of military sexual trauma. it's a dirty little secret that the military and the VA still don't want the general public to know the true story about.
i'm on 100% disability because of my PTSD....
I am so sorry about your experiences and your trauma.
Do you have any alternatives in regard to therapy?
i think they do psycho-therapy, im 30% and have chronic PTSD
There are specialists in treating abuse survivors--a lot of that difficulty is PTSD. I know PTSD from that angle. But I was also traumatized by partial vision loss, and by the eye surgeon who emotionally raped me. My therapist specializes in abuse, and she has treated me for all three kinds of trauma. I believe there are many therapists who successfully treat trauma survivors.
What do you mean you are 30%?

I have been diagnosed with ptsd. They keep telling me that I can overcome my fears, but I seriously doubt you can get rid of the illness. It's always going to be there. It's a part of us and it makes us who we are. But, we can reduce the anxiety by using coping skills and such.
