I was diagnosed with ptsd about 18 months ago, along with numerous other conditions. I am still serving in active duty, so I only see military Drs. I have had numerous unsettling experiences with these personnel and would like in outsode opinion about the medication I am on. If any of these combinations of meds raises a red fleg I would like to be informed. Please and thank you.

Celexa - 40mg/day - PTSD
Remeron-  15mg/day - PTSD
Lyrica- 150mg/day - fibromyalgia
Celebrex - SI joint dysf, among numerous other things
Lunesta-  3mg/bedtime - sleep (obviously)
Prazosin - 2mg/bedtime-  nightmares
Xanax - 3mg/daily - anxiety

I have had experience with military physicians.  More attention has been given to medical care for veterans but it doesn't reach some places.  Mindy1977 has the right advice about pill happy docs and checking your your meds yourself.  Those kinds of doctors are a danger.  But YOU have to take responsibility by researching the meds prescribed and all the side effects.  There are web sites where you can check compatability of medications.  At the very least, check out MAYO CLINIC and ask their online physician.  It is an excellent site.  You could go to a civilian pharmacist and ask if there are any dangers in taking all of these at the same time.  Their programs are computerized.  I am NOT a medical professional but have dealt with PTSD for 20 years and many different meds.  Why are you taking Lunesta when Xanex can do the same thing?  I take two tablets at night.  Also, some mixing of medications can cause joint pain and other problems.  You really need to look into this.  But always, question and research for yourself.  I hope you get treatment for the PTSD.  Rapid Eye Movement Therapy was very helpful for me. If it isn't available, ask if the military can cover this with a civilian physician.  After all these years, I am finally addressing the PTSD instead of psychotherapy.  I hope some of this help and things go well for you.

Ok, I hate pill happy docs.  I had one that gave me so many that interacted with my condition and caused me to (while driving) jump a curb, go airborne, hit a utility pole (at 50 mph) bounce off and rear end another.  I can't copy all the information you need to see.  But if you can get to www.drugs.com, there is a link for "interactions checker" at the top of the page, and you can enter your meds and then it will check the interactions.  I will tell you that I just did it and the list is long.  Not only does it do that, but next to each medication name before you do the the interaction checker there is a little symbol that will let you view all drug interactions for that particular drug.  Prazosin for example has 3 major drug interaction, 396 moderate and 2 minor drug interactions.  You have a really serious list of pills there.  No offense to the previous poster, but I quit trusting my doctors knowing about my drugs the day I almost died in my car.  If you can't get on that site and can't get that information, let me know and I will find some way to email it to you or something.  Please if at all possible, don't take ANYTHING without checking the interactions with your other medication and the side effects.  I have found a whole bunch of medication that they have tried to give me that have the same side effects of the problems I am already having.  I won't take anything anymore until I look into it and my doctors know it.  Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you.  I am very proud of our troops (my dad was a Vietnam Vet who is now sick with cancer from Agent Orange, so it would make me feel good to be able to help another trooper (?) out.  Either way, I wish you the best of luck and I hope that you can cut some of those meds out.  If you let me know some of your symptoms (I have an anxiety disorder and PTSD), I might be able to recommend something).  Good luck and thank you for all that you do.
