Pain

My mother is having severe pain on and around her navel.  It is hard as a rock and swollen,  Right side of navel is the sorest.  Any suggestions?

I agree with the above comment. You do not want to end up with an incarcerated hernia. That translates into emergency surgery. Take care of it while it's not so emmergent:)

I am sorry to hear about your mother's pain. I am not an expert of anything..... so please take that into consideration.

There are several reasons your Mom could be having the painful symptoms you describe.  One of the possibilities is an Umbilical Hernia. This is usually not of serious concern unless it strangulates the intestine, that's when bowel becomes trapped.

I don't know your mother's age. So I encourage you to have her contact her PCP. ... today. She should report her symptoms and have to checked as soon as her PCP thinks is advisable.
