Brody's syndrome? cysts near joints after exercise?

I've had Fibromyalgia for many years now, and for a while now I've had this strange thing happen when I strain a joint. It first happened in my back and upper neck. An itchy lump formed under the skin, and I thought it was just a mosquito bite. But the lumps never went away, though they stopped itching. It happened just recently again in my wrist after straining it while attempting exercise, itchy lumps, and at least one seems permanent. Anyone know what this is? Is it something called Brody's Syndrome?

Thanks for your response, I didn't know you could develop lumps in muscles because of chronic pain. I will check out these things in greater detail later.

Hi Fred,

Your itchy lumps do sound strange. What does your physician(s) think about your symptoms?

From a trusted website: "Brody's Syndrome is a dominant inheritance usually presenting at childhood in the limb muscles." ..... "Clinical features include impaired muscle relaxation with stiffness, cramping and myalgia."  So it doesn't sound likely that your symptoms are due to Brody's Syndrome.....but I am far from an expert.

I develop "lumps" in my legs and lower flank. I am told they are muscles that are responding to my chronic pain flares. Sometimes they are very pronounced and other times you can't feel most of them. However they don't generally itch. Three of them are cysts that I was told by a prominent surgeon also are due to the inflammation in my SIJ. So I have at least two reasons for these "lumps." You may have several reasons for yours also.

A rheumatologist may be able to provide you with some answers. I would have them checked out to ease your mind. I hope you will share with us what you discover and wish you the best.

Take Care,
~Tuck
