Fentanyl Withdrawal time

Been off Fentanyl for 5 days now.  5 solid days of hell.  How long does this last?  Even though the worst physical symptoms passed after 3rd day, the aching, restlessness, no appetite and insomnia are still unbearable.  Some good news please...........................

How long were you on it and what was the dose?  I would suggest sleeping if you can through as much of it as possible.  When I went through it I don't remember half of what happened that week... crazy huh? I am here if you need me! Good luck!

Hi jdanie,

I am sorry for what you are going through. I have heard the withdrawal from a major narcotic can take up to three weeks before the worse is over. I have no personal knowledge of that fact. I have heard w/d can be pure hell.

Please know that you are always welcome on the Pain Mangement Forum. However I think you should also post in the Substance Abuse Forum. No, I am not saying that you ever abused medications. The Substance Abuse Forum has much more knowledge in this area. Their members have been there and are dull of information and support.

Best of luck to you.

Hey I'm 29 days Clean off Of Methadone! So I think we are in the same Boat and I will go do what the above told you and Join the Substance Abuse forum, Even if I did take it for Pain and the Cancer I have had 2 times.

It gets better, Hey some one told me to take Calcium magnesium and Zinc and then they also said take Potassium and to get Vit. C but the Calcium and mag and zinc really help and so do the potassium with the Leg Cramp feelings and To sleep I got some over the Counter Stuff. But I'm with the above sleep threw as much as you can. And eat...Meat..and if you want Candy , I say do it..I did and its a time to be Nice to you.
You can do it...and oh I stopped doing all the vit. above and started hurting again...and they told me to take 3 of each. And I tossed in Vit. C...Last thing you want to do is get sick..

I took myself off fentanyl patches.   This is not something I recommend.  You should let your doctor ease you off slowly.

That being said,  you've got a few more days but not many.  You might try an OTC called restless legs.  Also I used Tylenol PM to help sleep.  If you've never used these, ask your pharmacist or doctor about this.

Good luck.  You're over the worst part.  Just a couple of more days and you'll start coming around.  To fully get over it took me about 3 weeks.  But the first week was by far the worst.

I too took myself off the fentanyl patch and should have gone to the hospital.  I am 16 days and still feel weak and have little interest in anything.  Sleep is the thing I need the most and can not seem to get a good few hours even.  I wish anyone coming off this medicine the very best.  Sorry I ever place the first patch
