Pain following bypass surgery

Had 2 way bypass in Jan, third artery was "dried up" and couldn't be used.  Have had occasional burning pains in my left arm since.  The pain starts over my chest and moves out to my arm.  Have also had numbness in my left hand which was diagnosed as a pinched nerve but wasn't told anything to do.  Surgeon told me I would have shooting pains as a result of nerves in my chest healing but am not sure which pains are considered normal

I also say to call your doctor and see if these are the pains he is talking about. As you know when it comes to your heart you can't mess around. Plus if you call it might put your mind at ease.
Hang in there.

Hi and Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I'm very glad that you have found us. You need to understand that there are NO Doctors on here at all. We are CP(Chronic Pain) Patients and try to help each other with our personal expertise about our own pain experiences.

I'm really sorry that you are having these pains after your surgery. I don't have any knowledge of bypass surgeries. I have 2 stents but no bypass.

I would suggest 2 things to you. I would also post this on the Heart Disease Forum as they will have many people over there that have been thru the same things that you have. Also, I would get in touch with your Dr. as soon as you can and ask him about these pains and whether or not you should be concerned about ANY of them.

Tomorrow there will be more people on line here on the Pain Management Forum that will be able to give you much more information than I can. I hope that you will also remain a member here as well as the Heart Disease Forum.

Please keep us updated on what you find out about your pain. Once again thank you for joining and I hope that you will remain an active member and help us out with your expertise on your conditions and any other that you may have.

Good Luck....Sherry
