fibromyalgia/adrenal insufficiency meds ?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 32 years old female university student in canada. I've been sick for over 2 years but at first I was treated for PTSD (which I do have) and then the pain arrived and in a matter of about 3 months it was soo painful and unbereable that my GP gave me at first tylenol 3 and moved slowly to what I've been taking for almost 2 months non-stop hydromorphone Contin 18 mg twice a day and inbetween these doseI take 6-8 mg of dilaudid 4-5 times a day to control the pain. 2 weeks ago it was discovered that I suffer from adrenal insufficiency so I now take cortisone.
I take a bunch of other pill, anti-depressant, lyrica, naproxen, etc.

My GP isin't letting go of me, she sees me once a month, I've passed an MRI, all the blood test possible, bone tests .I will be seeing the endocrinologist also but the freaking pain isin't going away. I was an A+ student, now I can barely attend, make it comprehend. I don't want to take dilaudid for the rest of my life. :-( I now have a lot of muscle jerks, I read that it's because of the dilaudid. it's annoying but because I take almost 30 pills a day iff I count the dilaudid, I prefer not to take another one. ;-)

The positive side of knowing about the adrenal insufficiency is that with the cortisone now I am able to take walk again on good days and bend down. So everyday I go for a walk, I'm thankful for that.

I know I'm a mess and I probably wasn't very clear but I would like your opinion on my dilaudid dose, do I take a lot? I'm worried. I'm 32 and I feel that fibromyalgia has stolen my life. :-(

I have fibromyalgia, and so does my best friend, my rheumatologist refused to give any type of pain medication because he stated that didn't help.  My best friend takes Savella for it and she says it works wonderful.  Have you ever thought about taking a vacation from some of the meds you are on?  There have been a lot of people here that say once your taking high doses of medications the doctors will wean you off for a while so when you go back on them again, it will work.  I have to say I am just a little surprised that they would give you all that med for fibromyalgia.  But I'm sure you have a lot of other pain issues too...

You are right, I have lots of other pain issues that my dr and endocrinologist are trying to find. There is a 3  years waiting list to see the rheumatologist so I didn't bother asked to be on the list it made me soo mad. :-( I figure I can be dead before they find out whatMs really wrong with me.

On good days I'm able to walk almost normally without one side of my body bending because of the pain. 3 weeks ago I couldn't move like any normal human being because the pain was too intense, I just wanted to die. At the moment, the hydrocortisone replacement therapy I'm taking + the hydromorphone contin and dilaudid is keeping the pain bearable but I want my life back, I can't live like that.

I would like to stop all the meds, take a vacation from them, but what will happen to my pain? Hell if I go do errands and forget to bring my pain meds and need them, I need to get home ASAP because I feel soo bad, the pain is terrible, I can't deal with it. :-(
