Hydrocodone Use

I have taken hydrocodone for about 1 1/2 years now, just one, sometimes 2 a night.  I can go days without taking any but on the average I take them more than I don't.  But only one or two a night.   I will stop taking them now that my pain should be gone and I'm wondering if I will have any withdrawal symptoms.  As I said, I can go days without taking any so I'm honestly not sure if I'm addicted or not.  Any answers or opinions...?

Michele, I'm so glad I was able to help.  Believe me when I tell you, if you were addicted to the hydrocodone, you wouldn't be able to go even ONE day without taking them, never mind several.   Withdrawal usually starts anywhere from 10 to about 15 hours following your last dose, depending on how high a dose you were on to begin with.  But if you are going to have withdrawal symptoms at all, you will DEFINITELY feel them within 24 hours, without question.

Thank you so much for caring enough to respond and for your opinion on the matter. I can't tell you how much better I fee to know that if what you say is indeed true then I will  have no problem whatsoever since i can go days without taking any pills.  Thanks again for putting this gal's mind at ease...   My best to you

If you can go days without taking them, you are definitely not addicted to them.  You also should not have any trouble with withdrawal symptoms because the half life of hydrocodone is quite short, and withdrawal symptoms usually begin within 12 hours of taking the last dose.  By the time 24 hours has passed, an addict is in full-blown withdrawal.  Just the fact that you can already go days without a problem says that you will have no trouble whatsoever with any withdrawal symptoms.
