I have been a member now for many months, just been reading posts and comments but only commented a few times on different forums.I have non specific pain issues, had every test available and yet nothing shows up.Iget very moody when i am in pain,so therefore i have lost most friends,my job,and my husband.sometimes i cant even bear the weight of the duvet on me or being bumped its terible.I am physically sensitive to even be touched.
Everyone says that i am a hypochonrdiac,i cant remember things and get a fuzzy feeling in my head sometimes and then i cant remember much during this time.then i found out that my husband or ex is getting re married soon, and since then the pain has worsened,am i crazy ?Every bone in my body aches and i  get very tired ,but cant sleep well anymore. Can someone help me?

The fact that you've noticed that you have been in more pain since finding out that your ex-husband is remarrying does not mean you are crazy. Emotional states are known to affect pain levels. Emotions such as stress, anger, grief, fear etc cause changes in physiology such as increased muscle tension which can cause increased pain. When I'm under stress for example my arthritic neck typically hurts quite badly because my neck muscles tense. For this to happen there must be an underlying condition (in my case arthritis) that is exacerbated by emotional states.

A skilled doctor may be able to determine the underlying condition that you have that causes your pain but many doctors aren’t very good at diagnosing or treating conditions like fibromyalgia (which you may have). If finding a good doctor isn’t feasible then you could try different things to see what effect they have. For example find out what is recommended for fibromyalgia and see if they help you. In my case my pain levels have improved significantly with regular daily exercise (even just walking for an hour daily), reducing my weight, resting when I need it, not worrying and learning to be more relaxed. I know from experience that if I get lazy and stop exercising and become a couch potato my pain levels begin to rise quite noticeably and I start taking more painkillers.

I even suspect that my diet affects my pain levels and that if I consume a lot of sugary foods like cola drinks (which I tend to love) and processed carbs I tend to feel more pain. Conversely I’ve noticed that if I eat a low carb diet and more lean protein I tend to feel less pain possibly due to more even blood sugar levels and more even moods so my underlying arthritis tends to be less stirred up.

I used to rely mainly on medication for pain control but these days I take a lot less medication.  I shudder to think how I’d be if I continued to rely solely on doctors and medication to deal with my condition. I wish you well in dealing with your condition.

Hi Hosie,

Your comments and questions are always welcome. You may also send a PM to me if if you just want to chat. Most of our members welcome PM's.

I am sorry to hear that you have not been successful in finding a diagnosis. I went years without a diagnosis and know the pain and frustration that goes with it.

Have you been to other physicians? I encourage you not to give up. Someone will listen to you and find a reason for you pain. Have they ruled out Fibromyalgia? I personally do not have it but I know others do. At any rate don't take "I don't no" for an answer. Keep searching.

Good luck to you. Please let us know how you are doing. Peace, Tuck
