I read about your mother and if the pain is in the back and she does not have any pain that goes down her legs, I am going to suggest one thing if none of the doctors have said it. Moving Disc. Only a handful of back doctors have seen this and it took two operations and two operations before it was suggested. I think the procedure to find it is called a Mylogram and it is painful, but if what I said rings a bell then ask a really good Neurosurgen if it is a possible. Just passing on what took ten year to figure out and I pray she finds out what it is, because I know what it is like to live with chronic pain.

Hello tom25700,

I just read your comments. You said you suffer from chronic pain for a few
years and you're frustrated because some doctors can not find the source
of it. My mom suffers from chronic pain as well as the doctors she has
seen cannot find the source of the problem either. Where on your body
is the chronic pain.  For my mom it's her back. I really sympathize.
I know how frustrating this must be. My mom says the same thing.
How can you expect to get better or improve when the doctors don't even
know the source of the pain. My mom was even seen by neurologists
in a hospital and she left them totally stumped. As for devices which could
locate the place or the causes of the chronic pain, I guess it depends where
the chronic pain is in your body. My mom has had several MRI's, x-rays etc.
to try and locate the source of the pain. Nothing has worked.
There are devices but again it depends on where on your body the chronic
pain is. There is also such a thing as referred pain. I know this term from
having chiropractic adjustments. I wish you the best. I hope some day a
doctor may be able to locate the source of your pain. Eve
