Natural Anti-Inflamitories?

I'm new to this site, but not new to pain. I cann't use any NSAID (anti-inflamitory drugs) tablets because they cause severe indigestion. Tried pills, suppositories and creams, they all caused indigestion. What I wanted to know is what natural supplements can I take to help with my pain. Also what foods should I avoid and what should I eat more of. If anyone can give me advice I would really appreciate it. Or even if you just want to vent to someone who can relate to your pain, don't mind.

I agree with Cajuin. Would suggest you see a good chiropractor. My headaches are gone. The pain I deal with stems from lower back malformations, undiagnosed scoliosis when I was a kid led to now having two herniated disks and some pressure fractures. If you are having pain in your extremeties, that is definitely neurological. Again, see a chiropractor, neurologist and have an MRI done. At the very least, change doctors. You owe it to your kids and yourself. Tumeric has been very helpful for me. Hang in there.

Have you tried OTC acid reducers/proton pump inhibitors to treat your stomach issues? They saved my life after years of using OTC NSAID at higher than recommended dosages. Everyone has their own opinion and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another.  And yes if your pain is not controlled than you should discuss this with your Doc. I wish you the best, take care. Tuck

I can see you are a person that has some real issues; pain & depression. Obviously, your doctor knows more about your condition than anyone else, but it sounds like he's letting the pain continue and wants to sedate you to the extent that your depression state lowers....not accepting the fact that one of the reasons you are depressed is because of the various pain issues and Big Pharma is getting their hooks into you.
I'm not a doctor or medically trained, but have been taking Vitamins/Minerals/Herbs for the last 30+years and don't have any medical issues other than torn cartilage and a little arthritis in my left knee (I'll be 68yo in Sept., and bicycle 90-120 miles/week, so something has to wear out :)
Don't depend on Big Pharma; they are only going to keep you on drugs and not elieviate the problem, just make it tolerable, but not in your case. (The last known med. issue I can think of that was 99% solved was Polio, back in the late 40's.) I'd recommend that you do some research on your issues; definitely get a second opinon (maybe three); doctors are like mechanics, some are great, some are good and some are not so good...they are not created equal, even though they all think they are 'the diety'. They typically don't educate you on your issues.
I don't get migraines, but here are some guidelines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Migraine
I don't know the extent of your neck & back pains (compressed disks??) but back exercises may give you a new lease on life.... Neck pains? I've been using (don't laugh) Castor Oil Packs for any pains (torn cartilage & arthritis) and it does work....what have you got to lose, other that some relief??

For your indigestion, have you researched Probiotics?
It's time you took control of your life...begin researching your issues and don't depend on your present doctor to solve your issues....there are those who say that V/M/H can be unsafe, but NOTHING like what Big Pharma is putting on the market...listen to all the warnings of the Big Pharma drugs ... absolutely unbelievable: "Talk to your doctor, and enjoy a better life.......but side affects may include................................." CRAZY!!!!!
Congress wants to pass a bill to prevent lawsuits against doctors and big pharma....yes, they can kill, cripple, or destroy your body, and DON'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY... Remember the FDA is practically funded by Big Pharma !!!!!!

Sorry I don't do I. Well lately it an all over pain mainly in my hands and feet. I have suffer from migraine, neck and back pain for most of my life. It's been getting worse lately and my Dr just wants to get the medication for my depression leveled out first, but mean while I'm in pain. He's given me some slow release paracetamol, but it barely takes the edge off. I've been using Panadene (Paracetamol & Codene), it helps, but I have to take way to much in a day to get pain relief and I end up with indigestion if I take to much Codine, not to mention constipation. I'm going to see a naturopath on thursday to sus out a number of things. I've had a eye type migraine for the last week and a half. Somethings got to give if I don't find an answer soon. I'm a mother of two small kids and the pain is stopping me from doing a lot of things. Would appreciate any help.

I'm not clear on what/where you are seeking to relieve pain from/at? I read that NSAIDS, etc. causes indigestion, but I where is the pain? Can you be more specific?

Oh I wanted to mention that if you are taking anything other than common foods that your not allergic to internally you should always talk to your DR. They should know what your taking and although a natural remedie may be safe they can sometimes have reactions to chemical medications and other herbs or natural substances.
Also make sure you research what ever it is your going to take well.

If you go to see an herbologist or homeopathic they will have many options for you that they can monitor. They will also know what combinations are safe internally for you.

Hi Relli

Some great anti inflamatories are Chamomile Tea, Wild yam root and White Willow Bark.

Before you think of taking White Willow bark make sure you talk to your DR as it is similiar to asprin though easier on the stomach.

Drink 3 cups of chamomile daily and you can get wild yam root at your local health food store and make sure you follow the directions as Wild yam is the starting point for many synthasized hormones like the pill which is why its great for abnormal cycles.

Clove tea is great for lowering inflamation, licorice, barley, baking soda if you have indegestion, stomach pain, intestinal pain or bladder pain.
and Honey.

Foods to lower inflamation need to be eaten regularly. They will help when youinitial eat them but on a regular basis they will do more for you in helping.
If you would like some more suggestions on herbal compresses or things like baths and message creams known to reduce inflamation please feel free to message me and I'd be happy to give you some more suggestions. There are some really great easy and safe to use things that are great at reducing pain.

Hello Relli, Welcome. I too have a problem with indigestion only mine is caused from an intirely different source but here are some ideas. Sandee had some good suggestions but some fruit are very acidy and you should avoid orange juice, tomato, lemon or just the fruit on the acidy side. Coffee is also a culprit, avoid it as well. The site women to women is a very good site, they will have all the info you need. Take care, mollyrae
