Opana Fade Out

I am currently taking 4mg's of Hydromorphone 4 x's a day. I have recently tried a new Pain Drug
called Opana ER which is 20 mg's once a day. It seems after about 8 hrs after taking the Opana I start to feel
withdrawl symptoms. Feels like I am coming down w/ the Flu. As soon as I take my next scheduled dose
the next day I feel better.
I have called my Doctor to let them know, and asked for an increase to 2 Opana 20mg pills instead of just
the one dose.
I use the 4mg Hydromorphone for break thru pain which happens almost everyday.
Anyone with any experience with issues like this? Or any Advice on how to better manage my situation
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Hakensak

Have you mentioned trying Exalgo? I believe its the extended release version of the hydromorphone. If the hydromorphone works well for you, it might be a decent drug to ask about. Also I know what you mean about Dr. not caring for their patients, its not like we ask to be in pain, ya know? My husband is on Opana and he is actually prescribed it every 8 hours or 3 times a day, because it doesn't last for him either. Good luck to you.

I realize that. I was taking 4mg's of Hyrdomorphone thru out the day also.
Muy concern is the fact that Opana seems to fade out after 6 to 8 hrs. Not 12...
The Pain care place I go to is going to take away my break thru pain meds
(Hyrdromorphone) If I increase the Opana to 2 pills a day.
Not leaving me with enough pain medicine for the day.

These doctors are extremely difficult to deal with. It seems they are more interested in the Federal Reg's then their patients...

Opana isn't a 24 hour pill, its made to take every 12 hours, so i think 2 a day would work out for you.
