Opiats don't work for me

Just over 3 years  ago I had a severe attack of chronic pancreatitis and multiple organ shut down. I was in the hospital for 13 months and had 22 operations.
This was the first time in my life that I got seriously sick. Before my attack and operations typical opiates worked fine for pain. I have chronic pain in my abdominal area and for whatever reason(s) op[iates have not worked since. Not at all. It cannot be tolorance because they did not work right from the start of my illness. I have been prescribed pretty much every opiate on the market. Nothing has helped.

My pain specialist says there are no alternatives to manage the pain so the question is, is there anything I can do or take? I  would very much appreciate any advice or solutition.

Thanks in advance
Glenn

Hello

Thanks for the welcome. As I am new here. In that you are a co-community leader I was maybe you could answer a few questions for me

1. Is there a way to contact another member directly or do you just use the forum?
2. Is there an opportunity to ask a question directly to a doctor(s)?

Thanks again

Hi there

Sorry you got pancreatts as well. I have tried both the patch and oxycotin but they are opiate based so no luck.

Thanks very much for the note. It is most appreciated.

I just had pancreatitis a few months ago and my doctor has me on fentanyl patches and oxycodone.  Have you tried that?  I know how bad the pain is, it's miserable but with these two things I've been able to go about my daily life, work, and enjoy my life.  I wasn't in the hospital as long as you (16 days, three surgeries) but I totally understand how sick you get from it.

Good luck, and I hope you find something that works.
