Oxycontin; Pregnancy & Newborn

I have been taking Oxycontin, previously with backup Oxycodone for about 2 years (spinal surgeries, and brachial plexus nerve damage). I have taken it throughout my pregnancy, (now 7 month) under the guidance of my respected pain management physician - tapering down from 80 mg/ day, to now just 15 mg per day. I have not had withdrawal symptoms, just increasing nerve pain as I taper off which is making life extremely difficult. My questions:
1) Is it best to try to stop completely before delivery, or is the baby still at a risk of withdrawal symptoms since I have taken the drug so long? Has the damage been done and it is too late?
2) Is it correct that 15 mg per day considered a low dosage, with less risk of ill effects to the baby?
Thank you for any details and specifics you can provide.

Your question might better be answered in the Expert Forums or the Pregnancy Forums.

I'm sure that in the Expert Forum, you will not get the hostility you might see here.

Sorry for your situation, I really am. I'm confident that you'll pick the choice that's right for you.

All my best,

very scary situation!!!
IMO its not really about "you" anymore,
You said you discussed this with your PM Dr. but you didnt say what your ObGyn thinks you should do.

It is certainly your choice to take these medications while pregnant. I chose to go off of the Oxycontin with my two girls. I felt is was right for me. However this is your decision.

At this point I would do as your doctor says. If you quit cold turkey it will cause the baby more harm than to just stay at a very low dose. I would recommend going off of it and having your doctor taper you safely. This would be best for the baby. But please do not do anything without your doctors approval!
The doctor needs to monitor the baby and you very very closely when tapering off.
I wish you the best of luck:)
