Soboxin vs methadone?

So here is what has happened. I will clarify a few issues first. No I was not a drug user. I read about methadone and it's long lasting pain relief and wanted to try it. The only way I could stay there and gets my medication was to go Say I was a opiate addict. I am not allowed to say that I take methadone for pain relief. I can only say that pain relief is a side effect of methadone. Well this is fine and dandy until I started to travel for work. Clinic rules are strict and impossible to follow.
Today I have had 3 doctors offer to take over my care, but none of them are legally allowed to prescribe me methadone. I will have to detox from methadone on my own and then the new doctors Can prescribe a substitute medication(soboxin) to treat me for my real pain issue.
Through all this I have found that these methadone clinics are a billion dollar industry for the government.
Next week I will have to detox for 3 days  before I can start soboxin. It is the worst withdrawl you can imagine.
Is anyone on soboxin or know someone on it?

I was told that suboxone would help my pain condition so I went off oxycontin (for other reasons at the time) and started sub. Let me tell you that it did not help an iota of my pain. Not one dag gone bit of it. I was at the highest dose too. I have neuropathic pain and I have heard that this kind of pain , ub is not good for. I have heard it does help some for pain and met a few ppl online that it did help. Why not just take long acting opiate medication if u are not an addict? Let me tell u that if you do go from methadone to subs, the magic dose for mathadone to sub transfer is 30mg of methadone. Anything higher of meth will not be covered by sub. This just does not make sense that u had to lie that u were an addict and then only have options like sub. Be careful of the fentanyl patch even though it is excellent for pain relief. Fentanyl is 100 times stronger than morphine and 50 times stronger than heroin. Do the research. If you ever had to w/d from fent, suboxone for sure would not cover that. I tried the patch and let me tell you, I had noooo pain at all. I got off it just as quick when I did more research. Best of luck and pm me anythime u have questions about sub. I was on it for 5 months.

Hi DD1970:

I guess I don't understand. The Doctor I use to see years ago and my current one both prescribe Methadone for pain. Pain Management Clinics also prescribe it.

There are many pain medications that work as well as Methadone. Fentanyl is one of them. It has 72 hr. pain relief. I would recommend that you be honest with your Doctor and tell him/her about the pain issue and see if they can't get you on the right track.

I have heard of Suboxon used in pain relief and have also heard that it is not very effective. It will help with the withdrawl. Another thing I don't understand is why if the Doctor is going to prescribe Suboxon don't you take it right away. You will not have to go through the pain and agony of the w/d.

Well, please take care and good luck in your treatment issues.
