My father,77,b/l AKA with four compression fractures in his back been using percocet 10/325mg for years and is not getting any relief from this pain medication with recent compression fractures (4). Allergic to morphine..please help with other pain medication options to suggest to family dr. to try to improve his pain control. Spends 24/7 in bed since fractures and does not want to move due to increase in the back pain.

I am also allergic to IV MORPHINE, but have been taking oxycontin for about a year with no problems. Its not as uncommon as you think :-) but yes, Dilaudid is good substitute and may help his pain better.

It's unusual that he is alergic to Morphine and can take oxycontin as they are very close. Hydromorphone or oxymorphone are good and strong  but also close to morphine. all the best

I think hydromorphone is used for people that are alergic to morphine, dilaudid is the name.
