feel ill after napping

I feel sick after I take naps- headache, stomach ache, etc.  It lasts all night and I usually cannot sleep well that night.  Any idea why that is?

Welcome lodeorge,

I, too, also want to apologize for not answering your post. Usually we answer almost immediately.

Tuck definitely makes sense when she suggests the possibility of it being a gastrointestinal condition. It makes perfect sense. She also makes perfect sense about consulting your PCP regarding your symptoms.

We're glad that you found our forum and again please forgive us for not answering your post sooner!!.....Sherry

Hi lodeorge,

Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum.

Please let me apologize that your post went unanswered. I am usually don't miss any but unfortunately my father that I have cared for in my home, passed last week. I have not been here as much as I usual. Sorry your post went answered until now.

I hope I understand what you are saying. Do you mean that if you do not take a nap you do not have any symptoms? If that is the case I am guessing that you may have GERD or a similar GI (gastrointestinal) condition.

Maybe you nap too soon after eating or drinking larger amounts of liquids. If you think that may be the case try to help the head of your bed elevated, or your upper torso elevated after a meal. Or if possibly just don't lay down for at least an hour or two after eating.

It' not unusual for me to develop a headache if I have a short nap. I think it probably means I just need more sleep but I am far from an expert.

If I am way off base please try to explain in more detail. And please consult your PCP regarding your symptoms. He/she is the best source of medical information.

Please let us know how you are doing.

Best of Luck to You,
~Tuck
