help with finding methadone for pain!

I recently moved from California to Atlanta, Ga. I have been on 100 mg. of methadone daily for 10 years for severe, constant , unbearable pain from interstitial cystitis. It has been a godsend and made my life bearable. I cannot find a doctor here who understands this is for pain and I am NOT an addict. Please help! if anyone knows a compassionate doctor in the Atlanta area who prescribes methadone. PLEASE let me know. Thank you!

ThANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS, i HAVE FOUND PAIN CLINICS BUT NONE THAT WOULD HELP. UNFORTUNATELY, MY PREVIOUS PAIN DR. IS IN CA. AND DOESN'T KNOW ANYONE HERE TO REFER ME TO. OVER THE YEARS, I HAVE TRIED MANY OTHER THINGS AND METHADONE IS THE ONLY THING THAT TOUCHES MY PAIN. I HAVE AN ILLNESS THAT NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE FAMILIAR WITH CALLED INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS WHICH CAUSES SEVERE, CONSTANT BLADDER PAIN.

Have you been able to locate any pain clinics?  What about your previous doctor that prescribed it?  Is he or she able to give you any referrals?  It may help if you have your records so you could show any new physician how you've been treated in the past.

I think sometimes it's hard to find someone to prescribe methadone for pain.  There seems to be some controversy over it in some places.  I know my pain clinic does use it in some pain patients, though not a lot.  I know my primary care does not prescribe it at all.

I wish I had better suggestions for you.
