In all honesty, if I were you, I'd give acupuncture a shot. I went to a place that does acupuncture in sarasota to help me with my back pain. Incredibly, the pain vanished after my second visit.
I Was WRONG...It was Lakeland..not Lake City...ALL these Lakes get me more confused than I already am...Sorry. Tuck
The post I was referring to was from someone that had found what they called a "Great Pain Management Clinic" in Lake City Florida. I know that is about an hour drive for you, maybe a bit more but it may be worth the drive. I am planning on relocating to your state so I remembered that post. I will see if I can find it. In the meantime I would call Lake City.
Good Luck, Tuck

I don't know if your willing to travel but there is a great Dr in Tampa.
You can go to the website tampapainclinic.com and read the testimonials and the insurance and such they take.
Hello,
I just checked your profile page, you are in FL. So is Sandee and she should be able to help you better than someone in Wisconsin. I have heard there is a wonderful Pain Management Clinic in you area. I remember the post. If she cannot help you I will search the archives.

Hello Again,
It is not the state insurance that is prohibiting you from finding a physician. It is the ignorance of the gate keepers. Maybe you are telling them too much when you make that initial phone call. I AM NOT telling you to be dishonest or misleading in any way or form. But remember the person who is answering that phone probably has no more medical knowledge than the average person on the street. They may be misunderstanding what you are saying or asking.
Pain Management is just what it infers, the management of pain. In my state the Pain Management Clinics DO NOT have patients you see for years. They simply conduct evaluations and make recommendations and preform treatments. Once that is concluded you are referred back to your PCP and they prescribe medications and continue with any treatments that are recommended by the PM Clinic. I do not know in which state you live. I have found that each state is a bit different.
What kind of physicians are you trying to set up an appointment? Have you tried a DO or an Internal Medicine Physician? It sounds as if Sandee will get back to you with information regarding physicians in your state. If not please let me know and I will see what I can do, but she is much better at that than I am.
Hang in there. We are here for you. Take care, Tuck
You can try raceagainstpain.com
Also there are the national pain society and AAPM - The American Academy of Pain Management. American society for pain, these all have sites where you can find Dr's in your area.
Pain management is to help a person in pain manage with different kinds of options according to what your pain is caused from. Pain management is NOT to get someone off of their pain meds unless that is what the PT wants.
I will be back with more info for you soon!
Hi Lesnbek;
You have been so mis-informed about pain management and I have never heard of a Doctor that won't see a patient because they're on pain meds.
Pain Management is for people who have Chronic Pain that cannot be controlled without pain meds (generally narcotics). They prescribe your meds and monitor your progress on a monthly basis. The woman you talked to sounds like she did not want to help you. She very well knew what pain management was all about. You really have to find another clinic. If you don't, you will be stuck with the kind of care you've had...which is next to none. I suggest you google "Pain Management Clinics" at;
Local.com ( make sure that you enter your city and state )
There are other resources out there and I can't remember the web site but if you Google, then I'm sure that you will find it.
I'm sorry that you've come across such negative medial professionals...Doc's, nurse, recepionist ect....and I really hope you luck changes.
Take care, Mollyrae
