pain under my rib

I'm 24 and female.I get an occasional dull ache in my right side just under the rib cage. However the ache tends to move to the right side of my mid back and then to my mid abdomen till it just aches all around my rib cage. I also get nausea if the ache intensifies.I usually take an ibu,hot bath and then lay on a hot pad.tends to help a little, but not much.It comes and goes.It can last from a day to a week depending an the severity.I've had it for over 8 years.Any ideas?

Hello and Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us but sorry to hear about your long standing episodic pain.

Over the last eight years has this pain been evaluated by a medical practitioner? What testing has been done and when was the last time you had these symptoms evaluated?

There are a multitude of conditions that could be associated with your pain. It could be referred pain that you are feeling, meaning it's coming from one location but you are feeling it in another. Have you been seen by a urologist? Have you had any imaging of your spine?

Again there are just so many conditions that this could be that it is difficult to come up with legitimate possibilities. Please see your physician. If he/she is not providing you with any answers than please keep searching for a physician that will. They are our service providers and you should get the service that you have paid for and expect to receive, with in reason of course.

I hope that you will keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. Maybe someone of this forum can offer better suggestions for you. I will look forward to hearing from you again.

Best of Luck to You,
Tuck

Hi kroeker:

Sorry to hear of the discomfort. Have you had your liver checked lately? it could be a host of things. I am not a Doctor and there are not any in this particular forum. You might want to post this same question in the "undiagnosed" forum or the expert forums. They might offer you more insight.

If the pain continues, you should seek medical attention.

Please take care,
Mollyrae
