refills

Hi,
I have a question can anyone help?
I am on pain managment for about 2 years i get 150 5/500 vicodine a month
on friday i had to do a random drug test before i could get my prescription refilled from dr he gave me 3 refills on bottle, at this time i had been without my meds for 3 days and they might not show up in ua and also a few days before that i had taken a zanex witch was mine from a previouse dr before i was on pain managment i no longer see but had a few left my question is this if my ua comes back failed can my dr take away the refills on my bottle i am wanting to stop them soon but would atleast like to have my refills so i can ween my self off in time can the dr stop the pharmacy from honering the refills on bottle or not, thanks was wondering if this might be my last ones.thanks

Usually, depending on the test, either instantly, or just a couple of days. But depending on when you took the Xanax, that might have been out of your system already, so he might not even know about that. It might just show that you didn't have Vicodin in your system. If he hasn't said anything to you, he might not. If he does, then just explain that you had a flair up (which I assume, that's why you ran out early) and if this hasn't happened before, he might even forgive it this one time. I would think that it would be OK to try to get your meds filled when due and go from there. Let me know how it works out for you and good luck and god bless.

Hi there, yes, your doctor can void and/or cancel your refills. The Xanax, while it was your prescription, was NOT currently being prescribed for you so depending on your doctor, not only can he not refill your meds, he can drop you as a patient and put something in your medical file, that will make it harder for another doctor to treat you. Your best bet is to come clean and be honest with your doctor. Good luck.
