something stronger?

I was hurt in September of 2007, I am under the care of a conservative pain management Dr.  I currently take 4-6 10/.325 Hrydrocodone, is switching to a low dose of methadone a viable option?  I find that I am in a constant battle to chase the pain down which starts when I am wake up, it seems that I catch up to the pain about 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon. Note:  My Dr. had me for awile on a 25mg Fentanyl patch which lasted for 3-days; however, I must admit the fentanyl was to strong and I was in lala land most of the time.  I want to really weigh options before going deeper in the rabbit hole since I have been taking meds since i was in the 3rd grade when I was diagnosed with ADHD, I know for every action that I take there is an equal opposite reaction!!!  I suffer from 3-buldging dics and severe spinal stenosis.  Itsucks but my back always aches and even with the hydrocodone I realize I will live with this pain forever, no surgery for this 43 year old very active male-to many horror stories of conditions worse after surgery-anyone got answers?

Thanks everyone!!!  I know that I have the addictive personality, I was looking to help in the short term, but, I guess from everything I have read even getting 10-12 10mg Methadone could latch on to me-I am currently taking 4-5 10/.325 Hydrocodone per day I get it, this drug is dangerous and should be avoided at all cost.  I guess I already knew this as I am interested in it, 6 months ago I ran out of my pain medicine and a neighbor lent me 1-10mg methadone and it worked wonderfully to kill the pain,  my body remembers taking that and is urging me on to get a few more!!!  Wake up Happy, isn't that red flag enough?   I am headed to my Dr. now and will get my scripts re-filled, I have a show to do with my work next week and I know from past experience that the pain will increase dramatically in those 4 days because of golf rounds and being on my feet and the lifting so I was going to get the Dr. to give me 10-12 10mg Methadone on top of the 120 10/.325 hydroicodone that I take-from everything I have read and researched even that short term amount could get me hooked and that is the last thing that I desire!!!  How about just getting 10-12 percocet, or something a little stronger?  better idea in your opionion?

I actually agree with you..... I know it apparently helps some ppl but it can't be a good thing & how the heck is it supposed to help an addict to be on it for as long as some are.  My soon to be ex was recommended it & given a book to read... well he didn't, but I did & there are statements in there from ppl who have been on it OVER 15 YEARS !!!!! He never did get into it as I refused him access to the kids as long as there was an addiction & after I researched how dangerous Methadone actually is.  BUT he never did kick the habit either, hence the soon to be ex part.

The pills are dangerous, but Methadone is as well. PLEASE talk with your dr about your options.

This is ONLY MY opinion but I would switch to methadone ONLY as a VERY LAST resort!! You will become a prisoner to this..it is highly addictive and very addictive , physically..u will have a very very difficult time coming off Methadone, as it gets in ur bones & is an awful withdrawal....It is actually my opinion that this drug should be used as a temporary solution

for drug addiction (short term use only)and I feel all Methadone clinics should be shut down! Im sure Ill get some responses with that statement but it is a very strong physically addictive drug and all those clinics are , are businesses trying to make money on the less fortunate drug addicts!!
