9 yr old soon pooping pants

My 9 yr old son was treated for Hirshprung's Disease at 8 months old. Since the procedure we've always had a problem with him pooping his pants. He has now resorted to lying about it, hiding the underwear, not cleaning himself properly, and just not telling anyone that he's messed himself. He does not respond to any punishment or praise. My wife and I have recently received custody of him and his sister. He has been diagnosed with ADHD, and his currently taking Concerta for this disorder. I am at my wits end. My next step is referring to a child psychologist to find out what may be an underlying problem since taking all of his toys, games, and other fun items away from him. When asked why he continues to mess himself he only answers "I don't know". Obviously this is not satisfactory with me. Can anyone help me?

You dont need to clean him up, at 9 year old it is preferable to let him have control of his own problem, no punishments, and a couple of lies out of embarresment could be let go, Focus on his positive side and praise him when he does something good. Chldren  respond to Praise and encouragement. walk in his shoes.

I'll check it out. It never occurred to me that the ADHD medication could potentially cause this. Thanks.  BTW...we only punish him when he lies about his accidents, or tries to hide it from us. We told him time after time that we understand that he has an uncontrollable condition that causes him to sometimes mess himself, but he needs to let us know so that we can clean him up.

Could the Med be doing this? check it out google side effects and Concerta  go to see the Doctor who prescribed it, possibly he needs it changed or discontinued.ask advice. This doesnt seem like a punishable issue .
