My daughter walked around tables etc ever since she was 8 months, however walking on her own, not so much. We let her walk back and forth between mom dad dad on a matras. First one step apart and graduatly increasing the distance. After a while she was confident enough to try on her own. She used a deck of cards to toss around the room en walked after it. She was 14 months old when that happened.
My 1st son was crawling at 4 months but didnt walk till he was 16months and my second is 8months old and refuses to crawl but is trying to walk so it just depends on the kid.
Do you have a foot stool?
Put it in front of the couch.
My daughter started walking at 8mo because she would pull herself to stand between the couch and the foot stool, and she'd use both ad guides to walk around.
When she reached the end of the couch and stool, she'd eventually get brave and start taking her own steps.
Do you have a walker toy for him?
I don't know what others think, but it's been my experience that you just have to wait until he's ready.
It can be very common some kids just don't feel the need to walk.
If you have a bouncer or saucer toy maybe avoid those for awhile, my pediatrician didn't even want us owning one.
If he can stand on his legs help him walk whenever possible. We just held my daughters fingers and walked her around instead of carrying her. My back hurt like hell for about 3 weeks But she started walking in her own.
Also if you love somewhere with a baby gym where he could be around 'walkers' I worked in a daycare and sometimes just being around bigger kids made the baby want to walk sooner.
Best of luck!
