Child will not eat

My best friend is so upset cause her son, nearly 7, will hardly eat anything.  He would live on apples, bread, yoghurts and bran flakes.  He will not try any other foods.  He wont eat anything that is green or brown  etc vegs or meat. Even if he is sent away from table - he doesn't mind.  He would rather starve than eat.  However, in the morning, when he wakes up early - he has a sore stomach - hunger pains.  We are all going on holiday again this year and my friend is so upset cause my two kids eat really well.  It doesn't bother us but she is so upset.

Any advise anyone.

I dont think sending him away from the table is a good idea, eating isnt enforced or a punishment is it? Actually the foods you say he is eating sound  okay. A lot of children are picky with their food it is very common, dont make a big deal of it, sometimes anxiety kicks in when too much attention is focused on it, prepare the food ,let it be what he likes then leave him to eat it. How about his Mom takes him shopping and asks him to choose some foods he would like , maybe he could help with the preeration of the food,tell his Mom take a step back ,let it not be so important ..
