bang his head

My 11 month baby boy start banging his head on wall or any where on hard surface, at that time he is normal not angery as well if we try to protect his head he will angry and if  we ask him not to do so than he is smile also....

The behavior may be getting him attention , as obviously you respond ,I know its difficult to ignore as we are afraid they will hurt themselves , I feel if you respond to it with less fear and more nonchalance ,he may realise its not getting him the attention he was seeking.try the distraction method, when he begins the behavior distract him by playing a game with him, dance around the room , make him laugh, take him out of the area .You sqay when you tell him not to he smiles...he has a response.... lots of fun and games for this bright boy....good luck .
