choosing his own clothes

My son is going to be 4 in November and has started to refuse to wear clothes (t-shirts) we choose for him to wear.  what we have decided to do is iron all his tops and ask him whihc colour he would like to wear today and he chooses his colour for the day and if we don't have that clour he choses another and we have no arguments is this normal behavour.  I'm not sureiof this is the correct approach but it seems to be working.

It's ok.  Yes at the age of 4 they are becoming independent and it is ok to let them be independent when choosing what they want to wear. I have had many fights with my daughter and she is 3 on outfits she chooses and when she is getting ready for Daycare in the morning I will let her choose her clothes even if she doesn't look perfect. I figure it is just daycare not a beauty contest and she is making her own statement.

Be proud that he is becoming independent. The alternative is what I have with my oldest son (which is autistic) and not caring. He is 8 almost 9 and I still have to pick out his clothes for him everyday.
