diffictulty with 6 year old daughter

My 6 year old daughter is beautiful, smart and talented, but very difficult. She recently increased her use of tantrums, not using words to express what she wants, biting, hitting and pinching to get what she wants at home. At school and other places, she acts like an angel (according to teachers and the like). Are there particular triggers that can cause these actions to occur?

I agree the biting pinching and pinching needs to be addressed with a time out,at 6 year old she knows its bad to do that, perhaps you need to get tougher on her.Has she any younger siblings she may be jealous of who get more attention at home than she does ?

First of all is she an only child?

Children of that age are in the stage of finding themselfs and the tantrums can be caused by something that could be bothering her or she may just be acting out. I think u should try a 'time out' and tell her why she is being punished. If u as her parent are going though some grownup stuff she will be picking up on ur mood aswell. so there could be many things going on with ur girl but she needs to know that its not nice acting like that. if u dont take care of the problem with her it could get much worse.

So this is only at home that you're seeing this behavior,  and at school she's fine?  

It sounds like she may be going through a very frustrating period of time for her,  and "saves it up"  where she can feel comfortable releasing pent up hostility.

How are her friends at school?  Is she getting along with the girls in her group?
