my 5 uear old daughter has been complaing about her knees hurting this happens around midnight or early morning.  I have taken her to the dr. and they tell me it is growing pains.  It happens about once a month.

Yes I would say that it is growing pains and the knees can really hurt, as the tendons get stronger , it will pass a nice massage may help her and some mild exercising.good luck
