I'm the mom of a 2 year old boy who has had three enlarged lymph nodes in his neck for the past 4 months. I originally noticed them and brought them to our doctor's attention when my son had a cold. The pediatrician did not seem concerned and said they may stay enlarged for a month or so. We returned to the doctor after a month and a half for my son's physical and I brought up the subject again. The same pediatrician was not concerned and sent us on our way.
Fast forward to now (4 months from original presentation) and I contacted the doctor's office to follow up as his modes are still enlarged. The nurse I spoke with was very concerned and said we were to be in the office the next day. We went to the doctor for the third time and the doctor said everything is fine. I requested a blood panel, but the doctor was very condescending and said it wasn't necessary. Aside from a physical examination, no tests have been run. Four months seems like a long time to have 3 swollen nodes and I'm concerned, especially after speaking with the nurse. Is it normal for nodes to be enlarged this long? Should I go for a second opinion? Please help! These doctor's visits are very costly and I seem to be getting nowhere!
