Is it safe for babies to have honey?

Hi,  I just found out that it is dangerous to feed a baby honey. I have been feeding my 6 month baby honey a month ago. I  would give him in the morning with my breastmilk with cereal and a teaspoonful of honey. I'm very concerned now. Should I take him to the doctor or hospital? Please respond as soon as possible.

thank you,
worry mother

Why are you giving him honey?  Just curious.  If there is no reason to give it to him, then I'd stop just to be safe.  As he is still little, he gets well checks every three months, just mention it on your next visit unless he becomes ill, and then call right away.  good luck

As always I would tell a Mom if you are concerned something may be wrong with your child take them to the doctor, Honey is unpasturised and that's why they say it should not be given before 12 months, it may be a cause of botulism, if your child is well I would say you are safe. Some folks do not believe it and do in fact give honey. I would air on the safe side now .good idea to ask the doctor .Has he shown any signs of sickness?
