My son toe walks as well and he has been doing it since he was able to walk and is now 3 years old. My son has been diagnosed with a developmental delay as well but, I always wondered and it was recently confirmed that he has a mild case of autism. Now, when you think autism, your probably think....not my child....he talks, he doesn't rock back and forth and those kinds of things but, there are many diffrent levels of autism. If you look up toe walking, that is one sign. My son has good speech however, he talks in question form. Example: when telling me his head is hurting him he says, "your head hurts mom?" things like that. He also has alot of sensory issues. These are all signs. I would just get it checked out just incase. Early intervention is the key and it is great that you realize that somethings not right now!

seizures and developmental delay are enough without adding toe walking to the mix. ask your neurologist. your son may have shortened tendons or may have neuromuscular problems. he may just like walking on his toes. but have it checked out.

Hi there,
My daughter is three going on four and she has been walking on her tippy toes since she could walk as well.  We asked the doctor about it and she said to have her wear her shoes at all times.  It helps because they are heavy.  I always thought she was getting ready for ballet, which by the way she is taking right now.  Hope that helps!
