Yes. I am so worried. Tonight after my 6 year old got out of the bath, I noticed some pubic hair on her vaginal area. I feel devastated and so anxious. For one thing, what on earth is wrong with her? And secondly, if it gets out of hand and she develops other symptoms of puberty, she will be bullied.
I should have said that she started the weight gain, etc. at age 5.
My daughter gained 50 pounds in 6 months without any household changes and then started growing pubic hair. She went to an Endo. but in the end we did nothing because they did not want her on hormones unless she really started her period. She didn't start until she was 11 1/2 yrs old. No one could every explain the hair growth and rapid weight gain. It was if something turned on in her body then turned back off so she never went through puberty all the way at that early age. So it may be nothing but there are ways to help if she needs it. I would have the tests. Best of luck and health.
I agree with Tex, get the tests done. You don't have to tell her ANYTHING - you can just say we're going for your checkup blood tests. Why? Because it's time to do your blood check up tests, don't worry, it isn't really painful. Then change the subject.
Six and a half years old is really early to have pubic hair.
I would have the tests done. You don't have to go into grave detail what the tests are about, if your worring about it traumatizing her..she is only 6.5. I would just tell her you have to go back to the dr. to have some normal tests done. That way it is less scary for her, ...Call me crazy..but anytime the pediatrician says to get tests done for your child...no matter what the reason...I think you should do it..He went to medical school, us parents(well most of us) haven't. Better safe than sorry. Just my opinion...good luck
