1 year......no period

Hello,

I'm 29.... I haven't had a period in 1 year (this mth)  I have symptoms of PCOS such as overweight, facial hair, missed periods.   When I had a period it was about 2 times a year, about every 6 mths.

should i be worried???

I don't have health insurance right now do to the economy.  My husband and I would like to start a family soon!
My obgyn said in NOV that if i wasn't preggers in 6 mths of trying to come back and he would give me clomid.  its been more than 6 mths but we haven't been trying.  how can we when i don't have a period and don't know when i would be ovulating?

Grrr frustrated
any advice would be great

Your doc will most likely put you on Provera.  You wll take for 10 days - then usually about a week after your last pill you should get AF!!!  then you would start your clomid cd3-7 or 5-9 whichever your doc tells you to do!!!   I would start charting your temps - it really helps in lettingyou know if you've O'ed!!

Your dr should give you something like provera to induce your period so youll know when to start clomid. You should probably try getting advice from another dr. since your not getting your period theres almost no way for you to get pregnate on your own. My dr gave me metformin and provera right away since it was oviouse I dont have much of a chance on my own. than after six months she started me on the clomid. I am not sure how I am still not ovulating  even with the meds there just not strong enough for me I guess. It has alot to do with my PCOS. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice Ladies,  my doc did say he would put me on clomid after 6 mths of ttc without success.  We were not ttc at all and now we would like to.  I lost my insurance i think in jan 2010.  I dont remember him saying anything about me taking something else to start my period.  can you take clomid even if you dont know what you first day of your cycle is?

how were you not ovulating even taking med to have a period?  I need to do some more research!

thanks

I have the same symptoms as you do from PCOS. I didnt get my cycle for almost two years at a time. And I found out when I started to try. The dr told me that I will need help from meds since I was not getting my period and without it I would not ovulate. So she started me right away on provera and metformin for 6 months. Well that didnt do the trick it was giving me my periods but no ovulation. So after 6 months on that my dr finally gave me clomid. I am on my second month now and I am hoping it will work. I dont know if my dr started me on those meds right away cuz I have insurance, They should have at least offered it to you. You should maybe talk to a couple different drs and see if any of them want to work with you. I hope this helps. Good luck!

The insurance thingy is a big deal as the dr will want to run all kinds of blood test & a physical...I would say try charting ur BBT as you may spontaneosly ovulate...but with that the spike occurs after ovulation which would not help much...I would suggest just BD'ing every other day if possible until you are able to go to the dr...
