I am also on Metformin. I did have the side effects but they weren't as strong as yours. I started with 500mg a day for one week. Then went up to 1000mg a day for week two. And then week 3 went up to 1500mg. That helped my body to adjust to it so that the side effects were not as strong. It is also important to take it with food or a glass of milk so that it is easier on your stomach.

It was my first IUI....am glad it worked the first time because I felt a lot of pain in the afternoon...cramping and stuff. But by night I was perfectly fine.

Did any of you take or are taking Metformin (glucophage)?  It made me really sick to my stomach and gave me bad diarrhea even in the middle of the night! I tried to start it on the weekend in case of these side effects and I had to stop taking it on Sunday cause i knew i wouldnt be able to work like that. If anyone is still on it  did you have the same side effects or how long did it take to go away?

I have PCOS as well. But it is possible to get pregnant. I had an IUI 3 weeks ago and just found out this past week that I am pregnant...I was also on clomid 100mg. So it is possible. You need to start seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE)...they can monitor you and tell you when you are ovulating...or actually medicate you so that you ovulate.
Hang in there and good luck!!

I have PCOS as well.  I wasn't ovulating b/c of it and I had to take provera to get my periods to start.  Do you know if you are ovulating?  If the time between your periods is too long month after month, your uterine lining could become dangerously thick.  That's what happened to me.  I had a uterine bx done that should it was way too thick and thus was started on provera.  After a few months on provera, I went to a RE and was started on drug regimen for an IUI.  Now I am ovulating and my lining is exactly where it should be. And for the first time last month I got my period without starting provera.

I have read that if you lose just 10% of your body weight, that increases your chances of concieving.  Maybe seeing a nutritionist is a good place to start.  I did and I lost weight through this and also by exercising.  I also feel so much better and feel that I will start out with a healthy pg b/c of my weight loss.

First step is to see your OB/GYN to make sure there are no structural reasons that might hinder your chances and also to make sure you are ov.

Good luck!
