If you want to get a regular period, the pill is probably the way to go. This will regulate the hormones in your body. If you're trying to get pregnant, get referred to a fertility speciliast. They will start you on medication such as Clomid to help stimulate your follicles.
Meteformin does not induce a period, it will only help with the insulin levels and to regulate a cycle. If your not having a period, and are TTC then you need something like Provera to jump start a period then. If you are not trying for a baby, then you should talk to your doctor about getting on birth control as that SHOULD help to have a period each month. I was on birth control for 2 years and took a 6 month break. I had 5 normal periods, then had to start up again in Jan 2010 after I was 10 days late. So bc can help regulate your cycle, if you stay a normal weight (i gained 13lbs and caused a delay to my period).
You should ask him if you can get on a birth control pill to get your periods started. The jelly like substance could be ovulation or leading up to ovulation. The Metphormin is just a pill for insulin resistance. It is supposed to regulate the weird levels of insulin, steroids, and testosterone in a woman's body (or so what the doc told me), but they may not start the ovulation right away. Birth control will help you get to normal with ovulation (if the metphormin alone doesn't work), then you come off the birth control when you are ready and because your body has now adjusted to having a period, it should continue to as long as you are keeping those levels regulated with metphormin. Hope this helps.
