PCOS and babies

Is it possible to become pregnant if you have PCOS? I have been given clomid and did consieve but had a miscariage a week into the pregnancy, the 2nd cycle of clomid appears not to have worked. Do I have any chances of having a baby? I am an emotional wreck, I really want to have a baby I'm 32 and it seems the right time for me. My Dr. had put me on birth control meds to induce my periods but obviously that had to stop, so now I'm on medformin and nothing else (except clomid) not sure if I should try clomid again this month or give it a break. Every time I get the "not pregnant" result it breaks my heart and my spirit.
Thanks,

I did the clomid thing and m/c too.  I couldn't tolerate metformin at all.  Decided to switch it up and live a better lifestyle by eating healthier,  low, low carbs...low glycemic foods, no fake food----like margarine.  Natural as possible.  Very little prepackaged/processed foods.  Acupuncture.  My periods which were nonexistant in my teens and twenties come every 28 days for the past 10 years.  Have 2 healthy kids now.  Clomid is no picnic.  Metformin may or may not work.  Good Luck!

I was on metformin for a yr and a half and am 34 weeks pregnant right now with a baby girl. Did have to lose weight to make it happen and take metformin but it happened. :) Don't lose hope.

Yes it is very possible to get pregnant with PCOS. It is just alittle harder since we dont ovulate all the time. But with the right meds for you you will get pregnant. I think you should try clomid again. Get a higher dosage if you can. And if that doesnt work than move on to the next thing. But for sure you should go see a specialist. Good luck and just remember your not alone. And unless a dr tells you that you cant get pregnant than you can.

HI Laidies,  I'm now 43 and was diagnosed with PCOS in my 20's due to infertility.  Please note I have two beautiful daughters.  It took quite some time... but there is hope.  The key for me was the Metformin with a very low carb diet.  I shed a lot of weight... stayed on Metformin and got pregnant twice.  I can honestly say, it was the combination of the two.

Now that I'm perimenipausal....  HELP...  oddly I have monthly periods now (unlike my 20's and 30's when they were non existant)  but my mood swings are terrible and I now have diabetes.  I've had pancreatitis 4 times due to extremely high triglicerides.  (Over 13,000)  Of course, the embalance in lipids is due to the PCOS.  Any advise for us 40 something PCOSers?

I did get pg and carry to term after my second round of IUI.

Frankly, I don't know why your doctor didn't give your provera to induce af.  My lining was way too thick to support a pg so I was given provera to have it shed.  Usually with PCOS you don't ov and bascially have annovulatary bleeding which appears to be af but really isn't. When you don't have a true period, your lining doesn't shed.

You may want to see a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) over your OB.
