Started metformin on 12-26-09 & spotting
Hi Everyone I am new to this site & posting anything!! lol ... I am 31 years old and am trying to get pregnant and went to the fertility doctor and she put me on METFORMIN so I can OVULATE, and I have been spotting since?? Anyone else with the same symptoms & how long did it take anyone to get pregnant using METFORMIN???
Hi , my doctor gave me metformin to regulate my periods, after taking metformin 500 for a month I got period naturally on April 12 but it went normal after a week gap it started spotting on and off , how long it happens, do I need to increase metformin dose , I am fully depressed , has anyone experienced like this
my name is Haley and i an 22 years old and have a 15 month old son... I was diagnosed with pcos 6 months ago and i am on 500 mg metformin 2x daily... I just started my period after taking metformin alone for 12 days... i had been charting my b.b.t. for those twelve days and today i finally started bleeding! so my question is... do you have to ovulate to have a "normal" period? as you stated in the answer to sarar78 (Metformin will not make you ovulate. In time it will help you to have normal cycles.) so is it necessary to ovulate in order to have a "normal" cycle on metformin?
As I've said before to so many on here, metformin will not make you ovulate. In time it will help you to have normal cycles, in which that is why doctors put us on this medicine. My doctor put me on it to help with my weight, and to give me a normal cycle...nothing to do with ovulation. I've been on metformin since September 2008 and along with birth control. I came off the birth control in August 2009, and since then I keep having my cycle everything month around 28-32 days. Metformin is the only known drug of choice that doctors most prescribe for the symptoms of pcos. Also, when you do get pregnant metformin helps to reduce the risks of miscarriages in those with pcos. Normally it is taken up to the 20th week of pregnancy. Good luck, and continue metformin. I never had any bad side affects with it...so you might want to check in with the doctor about the spotting.
