no menstrual cycle

I am 28 years old. I have never seen a menstrual cycle. When I was 18 years old I was put on premarin. A couple of months later I saw what I thought was my period for like 3 days, after that never saw it again. I haven't benn to a doctor ever again. Am I damaged goods?   What should I do?

I wouldn't call myself damaged goods. I am 30 and have PCOS and am trying to conceive. I usually only have one period a year and recently found out that I also have endometriosis. There could be a lot of things going on with you. I would ask around for recommendations for a really good OB/GYN and then make an appointment and follow through with it. If something is wrong it's a lot better knowing. If you know then even if you can't be "fixed" your symptoms can be managed. From what I understand no period is just a symptom of the problem not the problem itself. The actual problem itself could be causing other things more serious to go wrong in your body. Missing periods is a symptom of PCOS but insulin resistance, diabetes, heat disease, etc... these risks are all increased because of PCOS. I completely agree with luisa24 who knows if it's PCOS or something else causing you to have no problems. You need to see a doctor.

All I know is that you condition is called amenorrhea, which means that your menstruation never started. And, as I far as I can figure it out, there can be a number of different causes - either one or more of your glands do not produce enough hormones to induce ovulation, this could be the thyroid, the pituitary gland in the brain, the ovaries, the adrenals. Or there may be a congenital problem involved...Of course PCOS can also cause this, esp. if you have other symtoms as well. There are many causes and you will not figure this out by yourself so you need to see a doctor asap!

Go to the doctor now!!  Why would you go for ever without menstruation and still not seek help? The cycles are not just 3 bothersome days every month, they are part of our anatomy as women. Lack of ovulation poses you at a high risk for endometrial hyperplasia, cancer and so on. Not to mention the fact that you probably have a serious hormonal imbalance which is a great risk for the body in itself.  I could not advise as to what your problem could be in this case as I don't know anyone who has never had a cycle. Do you have other symptoms at all? Didn't you ever wonder whether there was something wrong? Take care
