Opinions on girl ear piercings

DH and I were talking about getting our little girls ears pierced, I always thought I wanted to get my LG's ears pierced, til she came, now I feel like it would be one more thing for me to worry about getting infected, or caught on stuff, DH has never been too keen on the idea but he said if I want to then go for it. Any ladies get their babies ears pierced? Experiences?

My mom got mine done as soon as i came out..in New York they did that in the 90s. She said it was best because it was done at the hospital with a sterile needle so it wouldn't come out crooked and she brought ear rings from home which they sterilized at the hospital and put in. They were white gold with my birthstone:)

We've decided to wait, I read online about exactly what tomorrow said, the ears growing and it looking wrong, and my daughter does tug her ears a lot already, she's only 4 weeks but that's naturally where her hands go and can't be prevented so I'm going to wait, we also think it would be a nice b-day present or "special girls day" when she gets old enough to ask for it done. She has longgg dark hair so everyone knows she's a girl, I'm not too worried about that haha. Thank you so much for everyone's feedback, I'm glad I asked!

I work on daycare. It's not the best idea. Little ones are impulsive. When she is two another child could pull one out, our she could get it caught on something or it could fall out and turn into a choking hazard. Don't just think of a baby with ears pierced, think of a toddler or preschooler as well. If they get them pierced llater and it hurts, it is a good lesson that pain is is temporary and that when you want something you can go through discomfort to get it. Just an opinion

I didnt do my daughters bc she always was playing with her ears and as an infant always had her hands by them and was worried about infections. Im going to wait until she can tell me she wants them done and can sit still and not be held down for it and can take care of the cleaning herself. Ive had mine pierced since i was 10 and i wish i had never done it. Ever since ive had cysts grow where they were pierced at and they get painful. The dr says that if they werent pierced i wouldnt have the cysts. Also by age 15 my holes had naturally stretched to the point i could pull the normal stud type earring straight through my ear! (Yuck!) I wasnt the type of kid to wear heavy earrings or to purposly stretch them. I look at it like a tattoo now. Its a body modification and if something does go wrong you have to live with those consequences. Ive heard of a lot of people who have no problems what so ever.

For us, it really was a culture thing. Plus, my daughter is 13 months now, and still has no hair. Normally, she wears dresses and other Gorky clothes, but it nice for her to have the earings in on days when we are hangin in jeans and t shirts, just so everyone knows shes a girl!

I don't recommend it if the baby is going to be around other babies or toddlers. We've had babies with pierced ears at the daycare I work and the other babies are always going after them. Another thing to consider is making sure the placement is good because I have seen kids that got them done as infants and as their ears grew they ended up being too high or low and just looked bad.

I'll have my daughter's ears pierced as soon as they say its safe. For me, its a cultural thing and its way easier if its done while they're still very young.

We got my daughters done a little under 3 months it was great, she cried for 10secs then its been fine ever since, you dont even needa clean them, they dont touch them and it actually hurts less cos the nerves arent fully developed yet. She even sits still when i wanna change them

I have done both my girls, here in UK we have to wait until you can prove (with there little red recordbook) that she's had all her immunizations-which is best because if they do get infected you want your little one to be strong enough to fight an infection. I have never had any problems, i got them done at a pharmacist. I would always use real gold also!

I honestly don't know what I'd do if I had a girl! They're so cute and it's nice because they won't remember the pain. But at the same time I'd want her to want her ears pierced. If you do get them pierced, I'd recommend not using nickel as more people are allergic to that medal than anything :)

I would make sure they are single use guns. Which most are now but still ask to be sure. Also use gold as its more common to have nickle allergy then gold allergy. I don't regret doing my daughters at all.

What should I ask if I do decide to get her ears pierced? Is the gun a one time use? Sterilization process? And use real gold or silver I assume?

The day my daughter turned two months old, we took her to the doctor for her vaccinations and then straight to the jewelry store for her ear piercing. I'm so glad I did it because my sister waited until she was 10, and then didn't take care of them and they got so infected. My daughter didn't get infected at all, and she loves pcking out new earrings when we go shopping

I had mine done at 8 yrs old on my birthday. It was a special thing and didnt really hurt. I didn't cry but I was a pretty mature 8 yr old and took good care of them so no infections.

I got my lil girls done the same day as her 2 month shots. As here in ca they have to have their shots or be 3 months old. We went to a jewelry store as they had baby first earrings made with real gold. Also the "gun" was a single use, one for each ear, and came out a steril package. She is now almost 15 months wearing the same earrings and never had any infection.
