Why can't I conceive???

My husband and I have been ttc for almost nine months. This would be my first (if ever :(  ). We've gone through the whole gambit and I've just recently taken FHS injections and responded really well. Along with IUI, though my husband has a very high sperm count. I too am quite healthy and have nothing wrong with the plumbing (so I'm told). I produced five, 5, FIVE eggs! and my husband had a sperm count of 60 mil (again, I'm told is quite high)....yet nothing. Nothing. We don't have coverage, so I am paying out of pocket for all of this. I am 40 years old and three months, and I haven't even had a chemical miscarriage. What's wrong with me? I'm beginning to think I'm never going to get pregnant.

Any thoughts?

I too wish I had some sort of answer or advice for you.  I am like Kristine.  I get pregnant easily but always seemed to lose it in first trimester.  They could never give me any real answers either despite an awful lot of tests.  Some of us just seem to have a tougher time then others and it can be incredibly frustrating.  You are doing the right things though...working with an RE.  All you can really do is keep going and I can tell you that when it does happen, it's so worth it.  Hang in there and we're rooting for you!!

It truly is one of the huge mysteries of fertility today.  Truly.  I am so sorry that you are going through all of this frustration right now.

I am 39 and ttc my first.  I have had four m/c so I will testify from a firsthand point of view that having those chemicals aren't fun either.  I won't minimize your frustration over not being able to conceive (yet).  But I just wanted to chime in and let you know that repeated losses aren't easy either.

I could list a whole bunch of things that might be the answer, but I am sure you are seeing and RE who has run all the necessary tests.  Perhaps getting a second opinion from another RE might be an option?  Unfortunately a lot of times there isn't a clear cut reason for it.   They have not found a clear reason for my m/c so I'm sort of in the same boat, except I lose the pregnancy right away instead of struggling to get pregnant.

No matter what the specific situation, it is frustrating and annoying at times.  I wish you the best of luck.  I hope 2010 is a really great year for you and you get that sticky bean soon :)

Have you looked at GMO in you food its linked to infertility problems although its not on the news like it should be. Most people arent aware they are eating it as labeling it on our food has been banned. Only Europe has laws that informs people that the food is a GMO. If it was so safe they wouldnt be hiding from the people

If only we knew the answer of this question, infertility problems would be solved! Did you have your tubes checked?

I too had unexplained unfertility problems for the first 2 years we tried to conceive (I was 36-38). We did 5 IUIs with no success. We finally decided to spend the money on an IVF. Unfortunately the IVF resulted into an early miscarriage but it seems that it triggered something in me because I was finally able to get pregnant naturally. Halas I had 2 more miscarriages, but I finally got a viable pregnancy at age 40.

There is no good answer as why you cannot conceive. But if you have the money, try IVF, if you have 5 eggs with IUIs, you should get several embryos with IVF. Myself I never had more than 2 good eggs with IUIs and I got 2 good embryos from IVF.
