what do contractions feel like to you?

I have been told its like a tightening from your back all round to your belly, or like you are dping sit ups that hurt. But I haven't felt any of that. I have felt what i would consider to be normal period cramps but hurt a little more. It isnt my whole belly tightening or hurting just where it would hurt if i was on my period aka lower stomach. They are really regular for the past 2 hours each lasting about 60 seconds amd are between 8 and 9 minutes apart. But from what i have been told they arent what would be called comtractions? I have also been having really light brown discharge that smells like old blood but it isnt mucusy? I donno im just kinda confused, oh, and im 41 weeks

I just had my daughter yesterday and had 9 hrs of labor. Initially the contractions felt like fire in my lower back in addition to period cramps...as they got 5 mins apart and less they felt like the worst pain ever. Feels like the type of cramp u get in your calf (charlie horse) spreading across your whole midsection and back plus 10x stronger period cramps . And u also get a really strong feeling of needing to poop. So picture the worst constipation of your life.... and its all happening at the same time! I actually threw up 4 times from the sheer pain  before I gave in and asked for an epidural

Just had my baby boy on monday and it felt like menstrual cramps to start with and would stretch into my legs, never wrapped around my belly or felt any pain in my back.I had a light brown/tea colored discharge as well never any mucus. I went in just to get checked out,and was 6cm dilated and 90 effaced and my water was bulging. They admitted me and had my baby within 3 hrs of going to l@d. It went quick. I was 38 and 4 weeks. Sounds like your going to be having baby real soon.

My sis-in-law's contractions were no more than period cramp feeling. Sounds like you could be in labor.

The discharge could be your mucus plug. And it sounds  like you could be having contractions of you can time then like you have been. I would wait until your contractions are 3-5 mins apart. You should be feeling a tightening in your stomach with the contractions. And as they get closer it should become more painful. Like you will need to sit down when they are happening and it might be hard to catch your breath. At least that is my experience. Walk around, take a nice shower, you could be close

Contractions feel different to everyone. What your describing sounds like they could be early labor contractions. You definitely don't want to go to the hospital until they are painful and 3-5 minutes apart. Just to not waste a trip cause they will send you home until your in active labor. The brownish stuff could be your mucus plug. If your concerned about that you can call your doctor but to me it sounds like early parts of labor!!!! Good luck!!!!
