Monoamniotic Twins

Hi -
Does anyone have experience with monoamniotic twins?  Yesterday I was told I have identical twins in one sac & one placenta.  I'm 9.5 weeks and had already had 5 ultrasounds where they only saw one baby...so that was definately a shock!

I've done research and know that this is extremely rare and considered very high risk.  I wondering if anyone has personal experience to share?

Thanks!

This had to be a huge shock - it's amazing that they did not pick this up before 9.5 weeks.  I can imagine it must be a huge adjustment to first learn that you are carrying twins and then to find out they are monoamniotic.  I do not have personal experience with a monoamniotic or even a twin pregnancy but through my work, I know of 6 women who had monoamniotic pregnancies - of the six, two had healthy twins and one had one healthy baby.  It is a very high risk situation, as you know, but there are success stories out there - so keep all thoughts positive.  I wish you and those little beans all the luck in the world - keep us posted.

I had personal experience but prefer not to hold it up as an example because it was sad.  I hope you do well with this pregnancy, and have a happy and uneventful nine months.
