46 & looking for the "right" OB

I'm 46 and ttc naturally.  I haven't seen an actual OB since the birth of my son 10 yrs ago.  I mentioned the idea of having a baby to my primary care physician and he rolled his eyes and said "good luck."  I really don't care what he (or anyone) thinks, but do want to be sure that any OB that I do work with will be supportive and encouraging at every step.  How do you go about finding  the "right" OB who is going to be nothing but supportive?  I would love to find somebody before conceiving, but the waiting list to see anybody I've contacted so far is at least 3 months out.  Suggestions?  Thanks!

read the DR reviews online and choose one of them, you are only TTC at this moment so 3 months is fine for an appoinment.

Good luck!

Hi there.  Sorry about your experience with your Dr.  That is just ignorant, seriously.

Finding the right OB can be a challenge.  I lucked out and found a women who had also had her children in her 40's and had a wonderful attitude about it.  I am now trying for another at almost 42 and she is nothing but supportive and encouraging.  What you want is someone who is honest with you but supportive, and can help you explore the options available to you.  Not sure how to best go about finding the righe one though...trial and error I suppose..almost like an interview process.  What city are you in?  If you were in Calgary (where I live) I would highly recommend my OB.

Good luck to you!!
